The Tallest Pine (27 x 15 inch Original hand-printed cyanotype on paper)
(cyanotype on paper, 27 x 15 inches)
UNFRAMED.
This is a hand-printed photograph using an antique 19th century form of photography. It is a larger version of the same smaller matted print of the same name. This larger version is printed on smooth hot press watercolor paper without any visible texture as the smaller one has.
These are the local Monterey pines on a misty morning in the woods in Northern California where I live. The long narrow format is inspired by the height of the trees and by Asian scroll paintings. Though it is a photo, it is reminiscent of traditional Chinese sumie ink paintings of craggy mountains with pines hanging off them. There are times when nature imitates art.
On heavy 100% cotton watercolor paper.
