This is the fourth in my ‘Twilight’ series of monochrome botanical paintings in blue. I live in the woods on a hill completely surrounded by trees. No matter which way I go when I leave my house, I am always walking or driving under the branches of trees. I like to take sunrise and evening walks in the summer. It’s a magical time just as the sky turns to a watery blue and all the branches turn to crisp silhouettes. The translucent layers in this acrylic painting give it a wonderful glow. The darker blue undercoat was painted thinly and allowed to show through as the shapes of the leaves. The paler blue twilight sky was scrubbed in multiple sheer layers with the darkness showing through to create a vibrancy like a quiet hum.
