Celadon Agapanthus 16 x 12 inch original cyanotype on paper)
(Unframed. 16 × 12 inch original cyanotype, unique monotype on paper)
Though this looks like a woodcut or lino cut, it is not. This is a cyanotype, a kind of lensless photography dating back to the 1800s, but I have experimented with the chemicals to alter the blue color.
Not the normal blue shade, these mint green cyanotypes were made by altering the ratio of two photo chemicals in the mix before brushing it on paper. The green hue is from using more of one of the two light-sensitive ingredients, potassium ferricyanide.
As with my other blue cyanotypes, all are one-of-a kind monotypes made from living plants. There is no etched metal plate nor carved wooden block to make a second identical print.
Unframed. Unmatted.
Signed on the back by the artist.
