Misty Clover 2 (12 x 20 inch original monotype on paper)
The same size as “Misty Clover 1. “ Each is an original unique work of art, a monotype on 100% cotton watercolor paper.
Though this unique monotype looks like a woodcut or lino cut, it is not. This is a cyanotype, a kind of lensless photography dating back to the 1800s, but I have experimented with the chemicals to alter the blue color.
Not the normal blue shade, these mint green cyanotypes were made by altering the ratio of two photo chemicals in the mix before brushing it on paper. The green hue is from using more of one of the two light-sensitive ingredients, potassium ferricyanide.
As with my other blue cyanotypes, all are one-of-a kind monotypes made from living plants. In this case they were tiny clover flowers from my garden. There is no etched metal plate nor carved wooden block to make a second identical print.
*Smaller than the blue and white similar monoprints of the same clover flowers. This measures 12 x 20", not 14 x 24", like the other two blue ones.
Unframed. Unmatted.
Would fit nicely in a 16 x 24" frame with a 2 1/4" wide mat border.
Signed on the back by the artist.
